Melanee Woodard began her career at Industrial Bank in 1999 as the Financial Assistant to the CFO. Prior to Industrial Bank, Melanee worked in various budget offices within the Federal Government. After several years in the finance field, she decided to pursue other opportunities within the Bank to make a direct impact in the community through hands on financial education and volunteerism. As a native Washingtonian, Melanee has always had a heart and passion to serve those within the community in which she grew up.
In 2008, Melanee was afforded the opportunity to work in the Bank’s Marketing Department as a Senior Marketing Associate. In that role, Melanee was responsible for supporting the marketing efforts of the Bank. She quickly became known for her willingness to volunteer at many of the Bank’s events with passion and excellence. In 2012, Melanee was awarded the Bank’s annual Beacon of Excellence Award which recognizes 2 employees for their exemplary demonstration of the Bank’s core values.
In her current role as Vice President, Strategic Marketing Manager she implements and oversees the success of various marketing initiatives and campaigns and manages the Bank’s marketing budget. She works closely with upper management to produce data driven reports for the development of products and services and determine profitability. This involves analyzing financial data, tracking marketing expenses, and making strategic financial decisions to optimize marketing performance. While her dayto-day duties and responsibilities have continued to increase, Melanee continues to serve in the community through the Bank’s financial education programs and volunteering with several non-profit organizations.
Melanee’s efforts have resulted in the development of strategic partnerships with many community organizations, local non-profits and government agencies such as the Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizens Affairs, the District’s Department of Insurance and Securities and Banking and the D.C. Department of Corrections. Melanee was instrumental in facilitating the Bank’s initiative that serves those who are currently or formerly incarcerated by teaching them financial empowerment skills whether they are still housed in a penal institution or have entered back into the community. Melanee was awarded the 2023 Community Service Leader Award from the Women of Prince Georges County organization for the community service work she has done in Prince Georges County.
Melanee is a member of the Community Development Bankers Association (CDBA) Marketing Peer Group and Impact Analysis Peer Group. Melanee serves as a board member and the Treasurer for the local non-profit Transformation Pathway, which assists families impacted by incarceration and she is a board member for KAIZEN Life Skills, an organization assisting youth with their social development. Melanee also serves on the Damascus House Community Development Corporation Board of Directors which escorts returning citizens through their transition process to productive lives.
