Phil Wahl is a seasoned banker with 39 years of experience in Augusta, GA. A 1987 graduate of Augusta University's Hull College of Business, Phil has held various management roles throughout his career, including Branch Manager, Private Banking Manager, Consumer Banking Manager, Business Banking Manager, and Market President. Currently, he serves as the President of Security Federal Bank, a $1.6 billion publicly traded community bank with 19 locations across South Carolina and Georgia.
Phil is deeply involved in local civic affairs. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Destination Augusta, Chairman of the CSRA TIA Citizens Review Panel, and an Executive Committee Board Member of North Augusta Forward. He has also served as Chairman of the Augusta University Foundation Board of Trustees and is a member of the Hull College of Business Board of Advisors. His recent roles include serving on the Georgia Health Sciences Foundation Board of Trustees and being appointed by the Georgia Board of Regents to the ASU-MCG Consolidation Workgroup Committee and the GRU Presidential Search Committee. In 2010, Phil was the Chairman of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and previously chaired the Augusta CVB in 2008/2009. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Augusta, as well as the AU Chapters of the Honor Societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma. Additionally, he is a DLI Fellow of Furman University's Riley Institute.
Phil's past board memberships include Augusta Tomorrow, The Morris Museum of Art, the University Healthcare Foundation, the American Red Cross, the Richmond-Burke Co. Workforce Investment Board, and the Augusta-Richmond Co. Community Partnership for Children and Families, Inc. He is a 2001 graduate of Leadership Augusta and served as Chairman of the Leadership Augusta Class of 2004. Additionally, he has been the Chairman of the Augusta Downtown Development Authority (2004-2005), Chairman of Junior Achievement of the CSRA, Inc. (1998-2000), and President of the Augusta University Alumni Association (1996-1998).
In his free time, Phil enjoys golf, photography, and kayaking. He is married to Catherine Ruth Wade of Augusta, and together they have two children, Olivia and India.
